Ole day 11

I didn't blog last night..TOO tired! Abner left on a 4 day motorcycle trip so I was busy all day. We got up at 6:00 AM as is the habit since Ole got here. There's no sleeping in with puppies! While Abner got ready to leave I was depeeing and de pooping everyone and then taking everyone for their morning power walk. Then it was breakfast for all and play time. Abner took off for his man bonding trip and the dogs and I hopped in the car and headed over to Ann's house where after a nice romp in her yard , all three came inside and Shelly got her massage. Ole was having a "puppy frenzys" moment. during Shelly's massage so We alternated between him romping with Elmo and being calmly restrained on my lap until he calmed himself. Elmo was next in line for a massage. His poor body has taken some abuse since Ole, so he got his massage and he was in heaven! Meanwhile Ole passed out and didn't wake up until we left 30 minutes later. We drove back home where I dropped off Shelly and Elmo and then continued on to my friend Donna's house where I left Ole for some quality puppy sitting while I headed to my hair appt with Marcella. Whie Ole was with Donna they practiced fetch with his favorite ball on a rope and he got to hang out with Ginger his new friend . Ginger weighs all of 7 lbs but she is tough as nails with ill mannered puppies so he minded his P's and Q's while there. Donna said he walked up and down her staircase about 10 times just because he could and was kind of proud of himself. It was his first staircase to learn 12 days ago so that made it one to be proud of I guess. Once I got there , Donna brought MaiKai the cat out in the back yard to hang out with Ole and remind him that cats are to be admired and respected NOT chased and body slammed. Maikai true to form kept Ole in line with a few well timed hisses and a confident calm attitude.
After we left Donna's house i took him home for lunch ,play and a nap ( for all of us!).
Okay so it wasn't much of a nap for me as I tried to squeeze in a bit of work but I did get some things done like I set Ole up to go check out a place called Canine 9 to 5 which does puppy day care for small groups of select puppies. I actually am interested in it as a way to find some good temperament puppies for him to play with in a safe environment. We headed over there and it was just a 10 minute drive from the house which was nice. It is run by a Japanese couple named Hiromi and Suzuki. Hiromi is a dog trainer and has 4 very lovely golden retrievers who assist in managing the puppies. The facility was very clean and all the dogs that were there were very quiet and calm which I liked. Ole seemed very comfortable there and i liked Romi and her husband. When I told her my puppies name was Ole she said Ah, Oree. ( Very cute) I had to chuckle on that one. There are 3 instructors monitoring the dogs during their stay and the first hour is a play and get to know you for the puppies with breaks and settle down periods. The next period of time is puppies loose with each other but with training involved, ie: sit down, look at you on their name, and coming when called. Nap time is at noon. I plan on leaving Ole there on

Friday for 4 hours for some fun and adventure. So Ole passed his interview for puppy day care! It was time to celebrate so we
drove to La Jolla for some social skills practice. First stop was the hair salon where I got my hair done earlier . Everyone had wanted to meet him so I had promised to bring him by. He had a ball & got petted and ear and head rubbed and his ear fashion was admired ( he's still a cone head). From there we parked the car near the area called the childrens Pool where we had gone the other day and walked over to watch the sea lions basking in the sun. There must have been at least 100 on the beach. All three dogs scored attention from about 10 more people and a couple of small children. Ole no longer is apprehensive about small children at all . He sits when he sees them and gently wags his tail. He will also try to kiss them but I have to be careful that he doesn't try to nibble on them . We spent about 30 minutes soliciting attention from strangers and then headed home for the usual play and naps and eating and crate time and play and play and naps and I'm tired!
