Ole has 2 new upper incisors! That happened fast. I looked in his mouth 3 days ago and noticed he had a loose upper front tooth and today he has 2 new adult upper front teeth! It looks like his lower front two may also have started to come in also. His mouth will be bothering him a lot so I have to make sure he has plenty of things to chew on to help with the process. In puppies they lose their puppy teeth starting a little after 16 weeks. At about 8 months all the adult teeth will be in and the puppy teeth gone. Then the bone will start hardening around the adult teeth and that will be the beginning of his second chewing stage. This lasts till about 18 months and coincides with an improvement in concentration and general settling down behavior wise. That is IF one works with their puppy & has lots of rules and guides the pup in the proper direction. All young animals need rules and boundaries in order to turn out normal and feel safe and secure.
Ole had a lot of crate time today due to all the painting Abner and I had to get done. Don't worry, he still managed to have several fun walks and plenty of play time with Elmo. He also met a bunch of partiers when Abner took him out for the evening walk. Apparently he got lots of hugs by some rather tipsy people. I'm sure glad he's got a stable temperament. Tomorrow he gets to go to daycare so he'll get to see his puppy buddies.
